West Lake, Hangzhou. During a pleasant fall day with the sweet Osmanthus scent in the air, Qihan Biotech held its first Genome Editing and Regenerative Medicine Summit in the G20 venue, Hangzhou International Expo Center, on October 21, 2018. This international biomedical conference invited many world-class scientific experts in the industry.

The conference was hosted by Dr. Jianfei Wang, Qihan Biotech Senior Vice President of Preclinical Development. A welcome speech was given by Min Wang, Deputy Secretary of the Xiaoshan District Committee and Head of Xiaoshan District. Mr. Wang warmly introduced the regional advantages of Xiaoshan and its continuous commitment to the field of biotechnology. Mr. Wang sincerely hopes that Qihan Biotech, as one of the new biotechnology enterprises with full support from the local government, can continue to grow and be successful in the future.

During the discussion, Dr. Luhan Yang, CEO of Qihan Biotech, shared Qihanbio’s mission and introduced its R&D progress. Within a short period of time, Qihan Biotech has established the world's leading R&D team with collaboration with multiple top domestic medical institutions – allowing it to make some big scientific breakthroughs in xenotransplantation.

Meantime, Prof. Yigong Shi, a well-known academician of the China Scientific Academy and the President of Westlake University, reviewed the history of biotechnology development in China and the foreseeable future. He said, as new technologies and methods emerge, China's biotechnology industry will face new challenges and opportunities. He wishes Qihan Biotech a very bright future.

All three scientific advisors of Qihan Biotech were present and delivered speeches followed by a round-table discussion with all the participants. Prof. George Church, Chief Scientific Advisor of Qihan Biotech, Professor at Harvard University, and one of the pioneers of genome editing, introduced the latest research progress in the field of gene editing; he also highly praised the groundbreaking achievements made by Dr. Yang's team. Prof. Philip O'Connell, scientific advisor of Qihan Biotech, former president of the Transplant Society, and Director of the Center of Transplant and Renal Research at Westmead Hospital in Australia, gave a talk on the latest progress in organ transplant; he believes that organ transplantation is the best long term medical treatment for many diseases and that xenotransplantation can solve the crisis of organ shortage globally. Prof. James Markmann, a scientific advisor of Qihan Biotech, Director of Transplant Surgery Department of Massachusetts General Hospital, and Professor at Harvard University, reviewed the history of organ transplantation and the clinical research progress at Massachusetts General Hospital; he believes that xenotransplantation will become a reality in the near future with the advancement of gene editing technology.

Nearly 300 domestic and international biomedical experts, scholars, and investors attended the conference. The participants learned the latest progress and trends in gene editing and tissue, cell, and organ transplantation.
